DETAILS:
⦿ 6-8 medium to strong Western Disturbances (WDs) are expected this month, of which 2-3 WDs could result in STRONG / SEVERE #THUNDERSTORM activity in most of KPK, #Punjab, southern Kashmir, northern #Sindh and northeastern and western #Balochistan (See Map 1).
⦿ #RAIN: ABOVE to VERY ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALL is expected in the northern half of the country, and ABOVE NORMAL rainfall expected in the central and southern parts of the country, including many places in Sindh and Balochistan. (See Map 1). #Rawalpindi/ #Islamabad region to receive nearly 100-150 mm monthly totals in some areas (See maps 1 & 2). The whole month is expected to remain active with ABOVE NORMAL RAINY DAYS.
⦿ HEAVY AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS may be accompanied with frequent #LIGHTNING strikes, strong #WINDSTORMS, prolonged and severe hail storms, and VERY HEAVY RAIN RATES are likely in upper Punjab especially #Potohar region, northeastern Punjab, upper KPK including Peshawar and Swat Valleys, Hazara division and southern parts of lower elevation areas of Azad #Kashmir (See Map 1).
⦿ #WIND_THUNDERSTORMS during WDs are likely in the Potohar region, central Punjab, including DG Khan, Sargodha, #Faisalabad, #Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala and #Lahore regions during this month with frequent HAIL events. In parts of southern KPK & Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, FATA and southwest parts of Punjab, there is a high probability of LARGE HAIL and prolonged HAIL STORMS.
⦿ #TEMPERATURE: Slightly BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES in much of #Pakistan are expected due to ABOVE NORMAL CLOUDINESS AND HUMIDITY. #CHILLY temperatures are expected to return to Balochistan in the first week of March. Overall, the mean temperature may remain 1-3 °C BELOW NORMAL in the plains of Punjab, KPK, northern Sindh & #Makran region of Balochistan. In #Kashmir and Gilgit-Balistan and high elevations areas of Balochistan, mean temperatures could be 2-5 °C BELOW NORMAL. (See Maps 3 & 4). NEAR TO 2 °C BELOW NORMAL temperatures are expected in southern Sindh.
